Beach and water

The wide sandy beach is ideal for swimming, playing in the surf, jogging, volleyball, football or simply lazing in the sun with a good book! Other activities include canoeing – those looking to keep fit can row to the beach on the other bank of the river facing Supinho. Windsurfing and kite surfing will also be available accompanied by qualified instructors. Pony riding on the beach can also be arranged for those interested.

Quelimane city tour

Quelimane, the provincial capital, is a charming port town with places of historic interest and a growing selection of nice restaurants and cafes to hang out in. The town is also known for its lively night life and open-air discos where you can dance the night away! For nature lovers, there are mountains, forests, hot springs and the stunning tea plantations of the Gurué region within a relatively short distance. Other attractions include the famous prawn festival, as well as the annual Quelimane Carnaval and more recently, the Zalala Festival, which attract thousands of visitors from all over the region.

Day trips and excursions

For those interested in exploring the area, there are many possibilities. Visitors can be taken  on a dugout canoe to Idugo, a picturesque island, about an hour's ride through mangroves and past the nets of the fishermen! . Trips can also be arranged along the Bons Sinais river to the port of Macuse, famous as the first landing place of Vasco de Gama in 1498. The province also has numerous lakes and hot springs that can be visited.
