Zambezia is rich in culture and tradition.
Song and dance
Zambezia has a vibrant music and dance tradition and there are over 150 groups of musicians and dance troupes in the Province. The Lodge has developed relations with local musicians and dancers so that guests will be able to enjoy live performances on the beach!

Cultural events
The Province boasts two big cultural events. The Quelimane Carnival, the biggest in Mozambique, which lasts one week in the period of Lent (February or March) and, since 2008, the Zalala Arts Festival, - a 3 day event, which also attracts large crowds from the city and surrounding areas.
Local crafts
Local crafts, including woven baskets, wood carvings, bamboo greeting cards, colourful rugs and lots more can be found in Quelimane and other towns in the Province and these traditional, as well as modern arts and crafts will also be exhibited and available for sale Lodge gallery, thereby also supporting the livelihoods of local artists and crafts folk in the area.
Local cuisine
Typical dishes, such as the Galinha Zambeziana (Zambezian-style chicken) will be served at the restaurant. Eventually, it is planned that guests will be offered the chance to be taught how to cook these dishes by the local village women and to learn about traditional ways of cooking village style! |
